This knife was hand forged in the style of the renowned modern craftsman Hershel House who lives in the small town of Woodbury Kentucky, this is why his work is generally referred to as the “Woodbury Style”. This is my own personal interpretation of his work based on the style and form of some of the knives Hershel has made in the past.

The blade has been hand forged from 5160 carbon steel recycled from the suspension springs off a large truck hand filed into shape and leaving some forge and file marks in the blade to add character, the blade was than oil hardened and tempered to hold a very nice edge.

The handle is made from locally harvested curly birch and stained with Aqua Fortis to bring out the grain and sealed with multiple coats of tung oil for a more glossy finish. The guard of this knife is a straight design with some decorative filing and small tips that are meant to resemble acorns. The but of the handle iron cap that secures the tang in place and adds a nice bit of style.

The knife comes with a hand stitched waxed leather sheath that has been made to fit the blade well.

This knife has a blade that measures 12 1/8“ a handle that measures 5 1/8“ and an overall measurement of 17 3/8“

Aqua Fortis is a very old Nitric Acid based wood stain used heavily on gun stocks, furniture, and musical instruments in the 18th century
