This knife was hand forged from 5160 carbon steel in the style of an 18th century longhunters knife and hand filed into shape leaving some of the forge and file marks in the blade just as some of the originals.

The iron guard of this knife is decorated with traditional shell style ends, and the handle is made from locally harvested curly maple wood that has been stained with Aqua Fortis* and sealed rith multiple coats of Tung oil for a more glossy finish.

The tang of this knife goes all the way through the handle and is securely penned to the iron butt plate with a decorative washer.

The sheath is made from waxed leather and has some decorative accents around the seam.

This knife measures 15" overall with a blade that measures 10 1/4" and a handle that measures 4 3/4".

*Aqua Fortis is a very old Nitric Acid based wood stain used heavily on gun stocks, furniture, and musical instruments in the 18th century.
