This knife was hand shaped from carbon steel to craft a knife based on 18th century American examples.

The blade of this knife has been hand forged from the shock springs off an old truck (5160 carbon steel) and hand filed to shape leaving some forge and file marks, like some of the originals.

The handle is made from maple wood that has been stained with Aqua fortis* and finished with multiple coats of linseed oil and beeswax, the blade has been affixed with iron pins, the tang of the blade is slightly shorter than the handle and tapers to its base, this was done on the originals to save steel and to make the knife lighter.

*Aqua Fortis is a very old Nitric Acid based wood stain used heavily on gun stocks, furniture, and musical instruments in the 18th century

This knife would be the perfect gift for the history buff re-enactor or anyone that would like a quality blade.

The blade of this knife measures 9 1/2" long with a handle 4 5/8" long and an overall measurement of 14"

The sheath is made from waxed leather and made to fit the blade well.
