Marking knives, or striking knives as they are sometimes called, are a traditional way to mark lines in woodworking. The knife line is more accurate than a pencil line plus it cuts end grain fibers making it easier to avoid chipping.

This particular knife has a double bevel which can be used for right or left handed cuts. This particular knife has been forged in such a way that it resembles the look and feel of a regular pencil that we already use for marking

The blade is made from 5160 tool steel recycled from the shock springs of an old truck that had been properly hardened and tempered for good edge holding.

Tool comes with leather blade protector that can be carried in a shirt pocket or the pocket of your favorite apron while working.

The overall length of this tool is 5 7/8"
The cutting edge is 5/8" long
And the width of the blade at its widest is 1/2"
