This is a slightly different style of French trade knife compared to what is typically available, this style of blade is frequently referred to as a cooks knife or lard cutting knife in the documents and literature I have come across.

The blade is made from recycled 5160 carbon steel from the shock springs off a large truck hand forged in a coal forge and hand filed into shape.

The handle is locally harvested curly birch and affixed to the blade with brass rivets than the handle was stained using traditional Aqua Fortis stain and finished with multiple coats of linseed oil and beeswax.

The tang of the blade is slightly shorter than the handle and tapers to its base, this was done on the originals to save steel and to make the knife lighter.

The blade of this knife measures 7" the handle measures 4 1/2" with an overall measurement of 11 3/8"

The sheath is made from 8 oz. Waxed leather and made to fit the blade well.

A must have for Early French and Indian War impressions,

Aqua Fortis is a very old Nitric Acid based wood stain used heavily on gun stocks, furniture, and musical instruments in the 18th century.
