This knife features a razor sharp traditional upswept carbon steel blade hand forged from 5160 carbon steel recycled from the shock springs off a large truck and hand forged and filed into shape leaving some forge and file marks in the blade to give it the appearance of a knife made in made in the mountain man or fur trade era.
The handle of this knife is made from curly maple wood that has been stained with traditional Aqua Fortis* stain and finished with multiple coats of linseed oil and beeswax and secured to the handle with iron rivets the tang of this knife also tapers to its base this was done on original knifes of this era to save metal and to make the knife a little lighter.
The sheath is made from 8 oz. Waxed leather and made to fit the blade well.
This knife measures approximately 8 1/4" overall with a 4" blade and a 4 1/4"handle.
*Aqua Fortis is a very old Nitric Acid based wood stain used heavily on gun stocks, furniture, and musical instruments in the 18th century.
