The blade of this knife has been hand forged from the shock springs off an old truck (5160 carbon steel) and hand filed to shape leaving some forge and file marks, like some of the originals.
The handle is made from figured curly maple wood that has been stained with traditional Aqua Fortis stain and sealed with multiple coats of linseed oil and beeswax, the blade has been affixed with iron pins, the tang of the blade tapers to its base, this was done on the originals to save steel and to make the knife lighter
This knife would be the perfect gift for the history buff re-enactor or anyone that would like a quality blade.
The blade of this knife measures 5" long with a handle 4 1/2" long and an overall measurement of 9 3/8"
The sheath is made from 8 oz. Waxed leather and made to fit the blade well.
Aqua Fortis is a very old Nitric Acid based wood stain used heavily on gun stocks, furniture, and musical instruments in the 18th century
