This knife was hand forged from 5160 carbon steel recycled from the shock springs off a large truck and hand forged and filed into shape leaving some forge and file marks in the blade and then hardened and tempered for good edge holding.
The handle is made from figured curly maple wood that has been stained with traditional Aqua Fortis stain and sealed with multiple coats of linseed oil and beeswax, the blade has been affixed with iron pins, the tang of the blade tapers to its base, this was done on the originals to save steel and to make the knife lighter.
This knife comes with a traditional style of neck sheath that was used in 18th century colonial America by native and settler alike. The tie’s used to wear the neck sheath around the neck can easily be adjusted to a comfortable position around the final owners neck with either a bow for easy adjustment or a simple overhand knot for a more permanent adjustment once you find a position that is comfortable for you.
This knife measures approximately 7 5/8" overall with a 3 5/8" long blade and a 4" handle.
This knife would be the perfect gift for the history buff re-enactor or anyone that would like a quality blade.
